Ebay Customer Service

By Arlene Case

If you have an eBay business, you should realize that customer service is very important, even for the online auctions. Giving quality customer service to your clients will cause them to do one or two things. They will give you great feedback, and they may look for more of your auctions in the future. If you wish to have a continuous flow of customers, then start thinking of the auctions as business deals.

How would you treat your customers if you had them waiting for their orders at your business? You should be helpful and respectful, of course. You would do everything to make sure that these customers will return to you in the future. You would bend over backwards to make sure that their buying experience with you was both satisfactory and enjoyable. Would you want to do any less when doing eBay deals?

First, act quickly at the close of your auctions. Contact the winner, and congratulate them. Give some information about the item they have won and how the item will be shipped to them, even if all these are mentioned before. You can remind him of his winning bid amount and give them their options for payment and some instructions. Inform him when the item will be shipped.

Close your email by thanking them for participating in your auction. You can also inform him about any other auctions you have available at the moment. This email is comparable to a conversation you would have with a customer if it were not an online business.

When the payment and shipping have been completed, contact your customer again. Inform them about the exact details of the shipment and when they should expect it to arrive. During this contact, let them know that if they have any problems or questions, that they should contact you through the eBay site. If they do contact you in the future, make sure that you answer promptly, and that you do all that you can to make them happy with their purchase - even if it means issuing a refund.

Yes. You should be open to issuing refunds, depending on what the item is. Don't delay if you need to issue refunds. It's very understandable that you would wait until the concerned item is returned to you before you give the refund, but make sure that when it is returned, issue the refund right away. This is just good business!
