How to Put Your DVDs on an iPod

By Riccardo MacBain

Technology today is all about portability. People are constantly on the move and they want to be able to take their life with them wherever they go. This explains the popularity of gadgets like the iPod, iPhone and iPad. These products allow people to surf the internet as well as interact with the important people in their life wherever they are. They also allow you to enjoy your favorite music, television shows, and movies no matter where you are. It is a well known fact that by taking a few simple steps, you could be watching movies on an iPod even without an internet connection.

You may be wondering why you would want to try watching movies on an iPod. They are great boredom busters. You can watch the movie any time you had down time such as when you are riding public transportation, like a bus or subway.

If you work the overnight shift where you don't have a lot of work to do, then you can pass the time by catching up on the movies you wanted to see but didn't have time for. Movies on iPods are also great for people who travel a lot for their job or to keep the kids quiet in the backseat while on a road trip.

Before you start downloading movies to your iPod, you need to make sure your player has enough storage space. Avoid the micro iPods like the Nano. They may not have enough space for the movie and the tiny screens will give you a headache.

Your best option is to use a full-sized iPod if you want to watch movies in comfort. They have more memory space available, so you will be able to also fit your other digital files on them, such as games, photos, and music, which will give you more options other than simply watching a movie on the iPod.

There are a couple of ways you can get the movie onto your iPod. You can download them direct from the Apple Store. This would require you to pay for the movie which is fine if you don't already own it. If you have the movie on DVD then it doesn't make sense to pay for it twice.

DVD conversion software will let you transfer your copy of the movie from the disc to your iPod. This software is easy to use and is readily available online. Simply follow the software instructions and you can watch your DVDs on your iPod almost instantly.
