Nowadays, wherever you go, either at a supermarket, in a restaurant, in a fast food, or outside on the streets, you will always find a person on his/her cell phone, even the drivers on the cars passing by. We take care of our cell phones like we take care of our bodies. We are so attached to our cell phones and it goes to show we are such a chatty nation.
I could still recall the time when cell phones became available in the market. Me and my friend bought one for ourselves. The phones in the olden days were so big, it's like you're bringing a bag along. Wherever we went, our phones tagged along. We are guilty though of using them while we were behind our wheels. We just used it regardless of what else we were doing. Having those phones at that time made us feel hip! Well, look at the cell phone, now. They have certainly come a long way since that bulky, heavy bag phone, and they do just about everything except windows! We wouldn't think of going anywhere without our cell phones. Especially today, as women, traveling and moving about in the cities, it is a must for safety's sake.
You are a road hazard with that kind of exhibition. They say, two heads are better than one but in this case, I say, two hands are better than one. The University of Utah had an analysis on cell phone use while driving and the result was that there is no difference as to the outcome with alcohol use while driving. It's playing with fire. We are not in agreement with driving and using the cell phone at the same time. Even several states would agree on that as they are proposing to restrict totally cell phone usage on drivers. Driving with a cell phone, yes, you'll still see a lot of those in the days to come but don't be sure that it will last by the time a law will say it's illegal to do so. You have a choice though, a much better choice that is safe. You can be in your car driving with two hands on the steering wheel, you'll just put on a hand's free device on your phone. The California Senate Bill 1613 became effective last July 1, 2008. It states that talking on the cell phone while behind the wheel is against the law unless a hands free device is used. This bill makes it illegal to drive and talk without a hand's free device for your cell phone.
This husband of mine is on his computer frequently and because he has a Blue Tooth Headset as well, he is already reaping the benefits from using it. At times, he would have to be on a customer, clicking away in his computer and still able to talk on the phone, even taking him a while to finish. It is very difficult to do this holding a cell phone and type at once and is extremely uncomfortable and unhealthy to try to cradle the phone in between the neck and shoulders. To resolve this issue, my husband now continues to use the Blue Tooth Headset that I purchased for him a few years back and it has become a part of his everyday work, he can't live without it!
If you use your neck and shoulders to hold your cell phone or phone next to your ear without using your hands, pressure is applied on the nerves of your neck. There will be soreness in the shoulders, neck, hands and arms that then becomes a headache as the end result. A hand's free device is a good way to go, so that you won't have to suffer headaches and body pains. You can have yourself a Blue Tooth Headset. It's comfy, uncomplicated. It's wireless and produces good quality sound. Motorola offers many styles and shapes to fit the needs of everyone. It's speakerphone can even be attached on the visor of your car. Using this in the state of California while driving is not prohibited. With this one, a wireless headset is not needed anymore.
So, remember, obey all rules of the road, and for heaven's sake practice safe driving, and if you are going to talk on the phone, use a hand's free device.
