Facts On Provincial Nominee Program

By Adriana Noton

The subject of immigration can be quite complex, as it includes a vast array of subtopics and many people's lives may be affected by the outcome of each individual case. The Provincial Nominee Program is one element of Canadian immigration that many people are not familiar with. Most of the provinces in Canada are entered into an agreement with the federal government that enables the province to nominate immigrants who wish to settle in their province. This is known as the Provincial Nominee Program. Of course, the program is subject to certain rules and regulations that must be followed in order for any immigrant to be accepted. Sometimes, utilizing the skills of an immigration consultant may help speed up the application process.

For the Provincial Nominee Program to work for you, the province or territory you wish to live in must nominate you for the program. Generally, if you possess skills that can help you contribute to the economy of your chosen province right away, you'll be more likely to get nominated. These may include any professional skills such as a doctor, accountant or lawyer, special computer skills or skilled trades. Be sure to indicate any area of expertise you may have to help move the process along. An immigration consultant can help you get the process started and answer any questions you may have along the way. Once you've received your approval letter or nomination from the province, you can proceed to the application. Each province may vary in its nomination process, which is why using an immigration consultant is a good decision.

When you receive confirmation of your nomination into to the Provincial Nominee Program, you will have access to the application. You will receive a number of different forms that must be filled out in their entirety. Every question must be answered truthfully, and a copy of your nomination from the province must be included when you send the application in. There is a section in the application where you must indicate if you're using a representative. This would be where you indicate the name of your immigration consultant, if you've chosen to use one.

Once the application is done, you should calculate the different fees that you have to pay as part of the process. The Provincial Nominee Program requires a processing fee that is non-refundable, whether the application is approved or denied. If the application is accepted, you'll have to pay a right of permanent residence fee for yourself and your spouse if you have one. A medical exam, police certificate and language testing are other potential fees.

Your immigration consultant will go over all of the fees when you apply. Remember to check over your application thoroughly, so all documents are present and your entry into the Provincial Nominee Program goes as smoothly as possible. Your application won't be processed if any parts are missing, so double check or ask your immigration consultant to double check before you send it off.
