I've only had this computer a few weeks, but it seems dependable, and with the 2 GB chip is plenty quick for office type tasks. I've had my Toshiba netbook for a few days now and I've really been enjoying it.
I decided on Google Chrome to avoid having a massive strain on system resources. I did full screen YouTube and Hulu videos without a hitch (SD versions - HD did notice some slowdown but this machine isn't for watching videos). We have these like teeny 7 inch ones at school and they are absolutely terrible, kind of brain washing me. However, when I just went to visit my aunt, who has a netbook, I used it and I realized how nice it is.
Unlike others who have noted sticky keys, I have had no problems at all with the keyboard. The touchpad is a bit oversensitive, but overall it is not too bad and I don't get annoyed when I use it.
As for myself I bought this for school, and it has met all of my expectations so far no complaints. I wasn't sure about this netbook after reading some "so-so" reviews, but I have to say this little netbook is a handy gadget to have around. This means I need lots of music and when I purchased this laptop I did not realize it didn't come with a disc drive, but my boyfriend bought me a portable disc drive and I kind of like it better. I get the best of both worlds a small light weight laptop and then when I need it I pull out my disc drive and I'm all set to import my new cd onto my iPod. One thing I noticed is that it is indeed sluggish. Netflix didn't play without hiccups; hopefully the RAM fixes that. The DDR3 has its notch about an inch from the end of the module. The DDR2 has its notch about a half inch from the end of the module.
The other issue is that there is a bug in Wine that causes Kindle (and a whole bunch of other software) to crash. This netbook is the best netbook I have had, very cheap and excellent performance, including the following remarkable new technologies. It runs Google Chrome lightning fast, most netbook other computers cannot run it well, it is resource demanding software. This solves the installation hang-up, as well as resolving the driver issue (11.04 now recognizes the driver without a problem). It is somewhat time-consuming, but well worth it.
This is a terrible no-no, but Ubuntu Lucid and Debian Squeeze are pretty well in sync, and it works.
Got this mini-notebook just before going on a trip to Alaska and upgraded the RAM to 2GB right away. I wanted to stay in touch with home base during a recent trip to Japan. I knew I would be moving from city to city, so my laptop seemed too much of a burden. I am glad that I got it. As long as you don't ask it to do what it wasn't designed to do, it works very well.

I purchased the Toshiba Netbook mainly to view the websites I visit daily, such as Facebook, and also to have something small to take with me on motorcycle trips to document our adventures. Diy Swimming Pool.
