My Family Likes This - Olympus Underwater Digital Camera Review

By Taylor Jackson

It is simple to use (logical menus really help), takes great pictures, and best of all it is armored. There aren't any parts that stick out to get sand in, and when not in use it protects the lens with a cover.

Rinsed off the saltwater and took it to the mountains for the long shots. It is small enough for a pocket and great for hiking and backpacking - no worries on dropping.

So therein lies the problem. The picture quality is average at best.

The quality of the video and photos was much better than expected...we ended up leaving the DSLR in our room most of the trip. We use this camera for our vacations. I find it responsive and quick to take pictures that I want, the panoramic utility is awesome, and it comes with a nicely made picture management transfer utility. Online support from Olympus is easy to navigate. so I just got this one and Olympus came a long way with their products because the 6020 is definitely the only camera I'm going to be using from now on, I have been through two point-and-click cameras in the last few years, this one is by far the best. It is smaller and lighter, and I like doesn't have the telescoping lens sticking out the front.

The screen is full of water. I am over it. Videos on the other hand are pretty horrible compared my other point shoot Cannon SD780 IS. The videos are maybe acceptable to You Tube but certainly not for a larger screen.

Hey, if you have it on macro, of course the picture will be blurry, if you're taking a picture of the sunset...learn how the camera works before giving it a horrible review. The pictures come out great, as long as you have all the right settings. I look forward to seeing how well it takes pictures underwater and will be trying this feature later next month I don't think I have ever used a point and click camera that does such a great job with the focus and images being so crisp as well. If you are looking for a great little camera that you don't need a PHD to use I've gone through many cameras over the years and I absolutely love this one! There are three options for the push to shoot button. There is one photo per click. Admittedly, I have not tried this one underwater even though I've had it for a year now, but I do take it with me to concerts, friends' sporting events, etc. Sometimes I get amazing photos, but other times they come out blurry (especially in low light). It also has incredible lag time from when you hit the button to take a photo & when it actually decides to go ahead & shoot. This is highly frustrating because you end up missing tons of moments you'll never get back (such as your friends getting married).

Unlike my old camera that broke after a day at the beach (sand got in the lens). This camera is still going strong after going to the beach every day for a week! The manuals are terrible, but after a little playing around I have everything figured out. Pictures are crisp, clear, and really capture life's moments exactly as you saw them with your eyes.
