Picking The Proper Cellular Device: Nokia C2-01 Review

By John Conner

When choosing a cellular phone or mobile phone company, we are usually spoiled for choices. There are countless types of devices, all with their own specifications in terms of buttons, screen resolutions, style, and technology. Picking a phone that you know you will get the most out of should not be a difficult task once you've done your research on what's out there. If you're one of those who just want a simple, budget-friendly, and reliable mobile device that can still keep up with the latest technology, then look no further than the Nokia C2-01.

This compact device is small enough to fit into your pocket, which is convenient when compared to large, bulky, phones which require a bag or purse. It relinquishes such smart-phone features as a touchscreen, Wi-Fi, and a video-call camera. It is an uncomplicated and straightforward handset device.

You can still take photos on the phone using the built-in 3.2 megapixel camera, as well as record videos, but the video quality is rather low when viewing it from a television or computer screen. It also requires a microSD card to be purchased separately in order to have enough space to store photos and videos, since the cellular device itself has limited storage space. Buying a card will give you up to 16 GB of extra space as needed.

Although this device doesn't boast much technological functions, it does have one interesting feature, and that is its 3G connectivity. This add-on allows users to download applications quicker using the "Ovi Store". Facebook users will like the preloaded Facebook application that can be used to update statuses and get friends' reports. It is not however, ideal to use the phone for surfing the web since the screen is rather small, but finding this feature on other phones of similar price will be rare indeed.

The low quality of the materials used to make the buttons may be a disadvantaged, but they are uncomplicated to use and can be seen clearly.

There are two ways to charge the battery since it includes both a wall charger that connects to a port, and also a mini USB cable that can be used to connect the phone directly to the computer. The computer can therefore charge the phone as well as transfer data. The device also has a built-in 3.5 mm headphone socket.

There is no need to be tied to a contract with this phone, since it can be purchased at a relatively low price and used on a pay-as-you-go basis with many mobile companies. With an investment of less than 100 dollars, this simple handset is an ideal communication tool for those with a limited budget.

One shouldn't expect the same out of the Nokia C2-01 as other smartphones marketed by Samsung or LG. It does indeed perform its role well in providing you with a reliable mobile device without spending too much money.
