Things To Know About Verizon Cellular Phones

By Todd Brandley

Verizon Wireless is a popular United States mobile network operator. The company, based out of New Jersey, was founded in 2000. There are a variety of Verizon cellular phones to choose from that range in their size, price and function.

Mobile or cellular phones are devices that are capable of making and receiving telephone calls. They do this using a radio link that covers a huge geographic area. The mobile phone operators allow devices to connect to a public telephone network by way of the cellular network. In modern times, many of these devices do more than send and receive calls. They can also access email, the Internet, Bluetooth, gaming, photography, applications and text messaging. Often these advanced devices are called smartphones.

This provider sells both smart and basic phones. However, they are not manufactured by this company. Different brands, including Samsung, Pantech, Casio, LG and Motorola manufacture the units. Sony Ericsson, Windows, Palm, HTC, Compaq, Apple and HP are some brands that produce most of the more advanced devices and products sold by the company.

These units can be bought with or without a contract from the network. Generally, it is recommended that customers sign a service contract because this reduces the cost of the phone. Individuals who purchase a phone without a new contract or extension of their current contract are subject to phone retail price, which can range from as low as $100 to as high as $900. Signing or extending a contract will greatly reduce the selling price.

Certified pre-owned devices are also an option. These units have been inspected and reconditioned. All pre-owned devices are checked thoroughly to guarantee they meet like-new conditions. Typically these phones are less expensive than brand new ones and if manufacturing defects occur before the first year, they will replace the phone.

There is also a trade-in program. This program allows customers to trade in their old devices for a value that can be applied to the purchase of a newer device. It is recommended that all new units are insured with equipment insurance. This protects the customer from fees related to replacing or fixing lost, stolen or broken devices that are no longer under warranty.

Consider the Verizon company when you are searching for the perfect cell phone. They can be bought as pre-owned, new, with or without insurance, and with or without a service contract.
