When I Was An Immature Teenager, I Bought A Book Which Wrecked My Life

By Ben Murray

Joe Karbo wrecked my life. You could find that a stark start to one of my pieces which are normally positive and merry (I hope) and regular readers could say "hang on, do you not you mean tricksters, fraudsters and thieves Jim Akin (of Swainston Hall, The Wynd, TS22 5QE in case of misunderstanding in case of multiple Jim Akin's) and his verminous sibling John Akin, owners of Kalmindon Ltd?" And I do not actually, the blight that pairs left on my life was a unpalatable annoyance. No, if I hadn't discovered Joe Karbo as a callow youngster of about eighteen, I probably wouldn't have passed the radar of the Brothers Grim and I would still have the 3000 they conned out of me. Mind you, then I most likely would never have found and learned SEO which I love, but hey ho.

No, Joe Karbo produced a book called The Lazy Man's Guide To Riches and I read it and it gave me hope. The git! It was sold as a book about how to set up, operate and maintain a mail order company, but before you got to that, Joe explaineda mind technique he called Dyna/Psyc which was a way of getting the subconscious to find solutions to challenges in a comparable way to transcendental meditation, and was effectively the first self-help book I found. Much of the book is out of date these days in its original form, but the modern mail order version of it is to be discovered in affiliate marketing, which has an extremely close symbiosis with SEO and lo and behold, when I unearthed the book the other day, I realised I'm still trying after all this time.

The issue I have in retrospect with old Joe, is that he put the idea in my brain that I could be considerably better off working for myself and running a company instead of following the standard career path. This has persuaded me to try some ideas, many of which never got off the ground, but included ideas like personalise greetings cards, Mongolian bbq restaurant, online takeaway restaurant ordering and my present project, an affiliate marketing fishing shop.

I also probably would not have got involved in the Amway business through which I came across a steady stream of self-help books and I grabbed them, I learned me so much about keeping a positive attitude, self confidence and belief in myself. In fact, if I had not got that, I most likely would never have taken the step to go into IT freelancing and greatly raising my income by offering my abilities to their best effect. Those skills are outdated for the UK market now, but they took me all around the United Kingdom as well as a marvellous happy year in Australia. My latest skills in SEO are very much current and, in my opinion, vital to anyone who owns a website and wants it to be found if they expect to do business through it. Like my affiliate marketing for instance.

So, as you can see, Joe Karbo destroyed my life. Cheers mate, I am really grateful in every way for what you did for me and I would not have altered a thing and never intend giving up.
